History of the Ratswaage

A building with almost 500 years of history, weighing house, wedding house, post station and a social hub of Osterode.

Weighing & more
One house, many roles

Over the centuries the building served as the town's weighing house (the balance beam still adorns the façade), as a wedding house with its own wedding rules, as a post station and at times even as a cinema.

A cosy little restaurant where the regulars still enjoy their beer at the bar. We all had schnitzel, the local produce was thoroughly convincing.

Very tasty, home-made dishes at fair prices. The menu is small but excellent, vegetarians and vegans are well catered for too.
